Instrument Technician (2nd Shift)

USA - Pennsylvania - King of Prussia Full time

GSK is currently looking for an Instrument Technician to maintain instrumentation used for the operation of manufacturing, process, and facility equipment at a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides maintenance and repair services to support the biopharmaceutical process. Performs repairs and calibration maintenance to process control instrumentation, safety instrumented systems, or other instrumentation for manufacturing equipment - HVAC systems, GMP utilities, and plant (non GMP) utilities.

  • Maintains, repairs, calibration, and installation of control elements including sensors, switches, transmitters, positioners, signal conditioners, and related devices.

  • Use of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Input/Output (I/O) schematics, logic diagrams, and diagnostic tools to locate, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning equipment within a process control or electrical system.

  • Safely shutdown, lock out, and perform verification of zero energy for systems or equipment to allow for inspection, maintenance, or renovation to instrumentation and control systems.

  • Use of calibration and other computer system databases by entering information, retrieving records, and generating reports.

  • Coordinate with vendors to procure replacement instrumentation and related hardware. Provide support to ensure that the instrumentation spare parts inventory is maintained.

  • Works independently or in a team setting in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other applicable regulations to perform routine and non-routine (corrective) maintenance.

  • Good communication skills for interfacing within the maintenance group, line managers, and with internal customers at the facility (i.e., production, engineering, validation, QC, and QA teams). Communication is critical to effectively support these groups alerting them to the technician's scope of work, how it impacts those groups, and awareness to any issues discovered during the execution of maintenance activities.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 3+ years of experience as an instrument technician in an industrial (oil, nuclear, power, manufacturing) or pharmaceutical environment with maintenance responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform job duties with limited supervision.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with cGMP’s, regulatory guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

  • Understanding of P&IDs, electrical, and I/O schematics

  • Ability to work in a multifunctional team environment
