Position Summary:
Under direction of immediate superior, installs, repairs, replaces, modifies, inspects and maintains all University Power House and energy components & control systems. The Instrument and Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and integrating measurement instruments, as well as the measurement software. This role works closely with the Energy Manager to ensure data reliability and to support both operational and strategic energy‑related decisions.
This position is essential to the maintenance and reliability of McGill University’s energy measurement network, which includes more than 400 electric and flow meters integrated into centralized software. The network supports building energy analysis, the optimization of building operations, project planning, and the production of mandatory energy reports for internal departments and external partners. The measurement network requires continuous maintenance, periodic calibration, and rapid response to prevent data loss or analytical errors. This role is therefore critical to ensuring the continuity and accuracy of operations.
Qualifications:
DEC in Instrumentation and Control or Industrial Electronics technology, (or ASC with work experience), basic knowledge of microprocessors and electronics, basic knowledge of pneumatics, basic knowledge of electricity, basic knowledge of computer and software.

Allowances: Premium of $5/hour
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Meal period: 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
