Position Summary:

The Department of Biological Sciences at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL invites applications for Instructor – Anatomy and Physiology.

This Instructor is a 12-month position funded by the Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE). This instructor will teach fully online courses, including Anatomy and Physiology I (BSC 2085) and associated lab (BSC 2085L) and Anatomy and Physiology II (BSC 2086) and associated lab (BSC2086L) each year, and will have other instruction- and/or service-related responsibilities. The instructor will be tasked with eDesigning their courses and assisting other faculty with eDesigning courses through the COCE. Further, the instructor will be asked to re-design courses with the COCE, achieve quality matters recognition for online courses. This instructor will also be tasked with completing FAU’s 8-week self-paced online Teaching Online: Pedagogy and Practice (TOPP) within their first semester.

This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of continued renewal depending on available funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach assigned courses.

  • Evaluate the academic progress of students.

  • Submit course grades and perform other administrative duties as required.

  • Participate in curriculum and/or program development, as assigned.

  • Serve on appropriate department, college, and university committees.

Candidates may supervise MS students, as well as undergraduate students enrolled in Directed Independent Research (DIR) or Honors Thesis credits if desired.

Service Responsibilities – Candidates will provide service to the university through membership on departmental, college, and university committees, provide service to the scientific community, and to the broader public community through other potential ad hoc community engagement activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as (but not limited to) Biology, Anatomy, Integrated Biology, or Physiology by the time of appointment. Candidates should have a clear promise of excellent instructional capacity.

Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
