The Ohio State University Libraries’ Thompson Special Collections (ThoSpColl; comprising the Rare Books & Manuscripts Library, Lawrence & Lee Theatre Research Institute, and the Hilandar Research Library) program collects, preserves, and promotes the use of distinctive and interdisciplinary collections, unique resources and primary research materials. The Instructional Services Coordinator manages the promotion and integration of ThoSpColl resources and materials to meet the curricular, educational, and outreach needs of Ohio State University’s students and faculty, as well as the needs of teachers and learners at other higher education, K-12, and public organizations. The Instructional Services Coordinator is responsible for identifying collection materials for use in teaching and outreach; working with departmental curators and external partners to develop curriculum (including single- session, full-course, and ongoing programmatic teaching opportunities); organizing and leading independent teaching sessions; developing and compiling statistical metrics for ongoing assessment of ThoSpColl’s instructional program; and collaborating with other Libraries’ departments (such as Conservation and Digitization) to facilitate use and coordinate long-term preservation of collection items for teaching.

Education and Experience
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 4 years of academic library, special collections, and/or instructional experience. Knowledge of primary source materials in a wide variety of media and formats. Demonstrated experience developing curricular programs and activities. Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous demands. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency with standard office-related tools and technology, such as MS Office.
Desired qualifications:
Advanced degree in Liberal Arts or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 4-8 years of academic library, special collections, and/or instructional experience. Experience in an archival setting and knowledge of trends and current best practices in archival and special collections instruction. Knowledge of collections conservation and preservation best practices. Knowledge of how collections reformatting and digital collections can impact and support the provision of instruction and outreach.
The posting range for this position is $55,700-$65,000 annually.
