As an Instructional Designer, this role will apply proven instructional design methodologies, learning principles, and innovative design techniques to create high-quality learning content that drives performance and engagement. The Designer will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business partners to develop a variety of learning solutions.
Essential Job Functions
Design and Develop Learning Solutions
Create engaging instructional materials in multiple formats: eLearning modules, instructor-led content, digital learning, and hands-on practical skill-building activities.
Apply learning principles and instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to ensure effectiveness and engagement.
Develop supporting materials such as facilitator guides, participant workbooks, quick reference guides, job aids, and performance support tools.
Needs Analysis and Evaluation
Conduct needs and task analyses to identify skill gaps and learning objectives.
Translate business and performance needs into targeted learning solutions.
Evaluate learning effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Project Management
Partner with SMEs, business leaders, and L&D peers to validate content accuracy and align learning solutions with business goals.
Manage multiple design projects from concept through delivery, ensuring quality and timeliness.
Maintain consistency in tone, branding, and instructional standards across all materials.
Maintain knowledge and expertise of learning materials across the organization in support of business needs.
Technology and Innovation
Develop and publish content using authoring tools such as Adobe Premier, Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), Captivate, or similar platforms.
Collaborate with the LMS administrator to test, upload, deliver and maintain learning content.
Research and apply emerging learning technologies, design trends, and digital tools to enhance learning experiences.

Instructional Design Expertise: Strong understanding of adult learning theory, curriculum design, and blended learning strategies.
Content Creation: Ability to produce clear, visually engaging, and instructionally sound materials for various audiences and delivery methods.
Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional partners and SMEs to ensure accuracy and relevance of learning content.
Critical Thinking: Analyzes performance challenges and recommends learning solutions aligned to business outcomes.
Project Management: Demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with eLearning tools, LMS platforms, and multimedia software to build interactive content.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and learner engagement.
Learner-Centered Mindset: Designs training that resonates with adult learners and is easy to apply on the job.
Business Alignment: Understands the company’s operations, products, branding, and culture to create relevant, practical learning solutions.
Innovation: Continuously explores new learning methods and technologies to enhance learning delivery.
Quality and Consistency: Produces high-quality materials that uphold brand standards and instructional best practices.
Collaboration and Influence: Builds positive relationships and earns trust from stakeholders across departments.
Continuous Improvement: Regularly gathers feedback and data to refine learning programs and improve results.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Education, Communications, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or learning content creation.
Experience designing blended learning programs for adult learners in retail, sales, distribution, or corporate environments.
Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Cloud, Vyond, etc.).
Strong writing, editing, and visual design skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
Experience in the retail, automotive, or supply chain industry.
Familiarity with training development for frontline or hourly employees.
Certification in instructional design, learning experience design, or project management (e.g., ATD, CPLP, PMI).
