Brown Advisory is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and investment focused individual to join our Global Institutional team as a Relationship Manager in our Baltimore office. The Relationship Manager will serve as the primary contact for a mix of institutional clients, and their investment consultants, and certain U.S. financial intermediaries. The Relationship Manager will deliver high-quality client experience by promptly handling client needs and identifying opportunities to deepen and grow relationships. The role requires industry knowledge and networks, a strong understanding of the firm’s investment strategies, collaboration across teams, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the Relationship Manager will collaborate with Sales, Research, Marketing, Legal/Compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for assigned institutional and intermediary clients, ensuring high-quality client experience

  • Deeply understand each client’s objectives, structure, and evolving needs to support long-term relationship success and organic growth

  • Lead client engagement (calls, meetings, conferences, etc.), providing concise investment and firm updates often in partnership with the investment team

  • Own timely resolution of client inquiries, requests, and issues, ensuring clear communication and strong follow-through

  • Deepen client relationships through proactive engagement and partnership events

  • Identify and build relationships with other key stakeholders (e.g. field consultants, investment staff, product/platform teams)

  • Articulate the firm’s investment strategies and investment platform with clients

  • Partner with internal teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality service for each client

  • Collaborate with other Relationship Managers on innovative ideas, best practices, and industry insights; support implementation of improvements

  • Participate in team initiatives and special projects that improve processes and the overall client experience

  • Capture client activity, opportunities, and relationship insights in Salesforce

  • Desire to continuously expand industry knowledge, with a long-term focus on professional growth and pursuing relevant certifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience

  • Experience working with institutional clients (e.g. pension plans, endowments & foundations) and consultants preferred

  • Ability to work full time in the firm’s Baltimore office

  • Ability to travel for client meetings and events

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, and proactive

  • Strong judgment, ability to work under pressure, and highly adaptable

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to balance current client needs with long-term objectives

  • Acts in best interest of each client by understanding their needs and delivering exceptional service

  • Experience with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Ability to work in our Baltimore office

Salary: $100-120k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long-term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
