Institutional Market Leader
The Institutional Market Leader is a critical role in delivering lifetime income to all. This role is a forward-thinking, commercially minded business and people leader. The Market Leader runs their market with a business mindset, coaching and inspiring client-facing teams to retain, deepen, and grow institutional relationships. By leveraging analytics, financials, and industry knowledge, this role will develop multi-year plans across markets and institutions to drive strategic outcomes. The role will be key to instilling strong sales competence, operational excellence, and consistent practice management to grow the business while delighting the clients and institutions. On average, the Market leader is responsible for approximately $50B AUA, 135 Institutional clients and 250,000 total participants primarily in the higher education market, focusing on existing client base growth through expansion of services, financial planning and client retention.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Leads an integrated team of client-facing associates through a transformative approach, emphasizing influence, collaboration, and commitment to the mission. Inspires and empowers individuals in order to drive superb commercial performance and delight to the client.
  • Accountable for retaining, deepening, and growing relationships with existing retirement clients and consultants and delivering added value across the full suite of TIAA products / solutions. Develop and formulate multi-year plans to drive and achieve strategic outcomes across markets and institutions.
  • Cultivates strong client relationships (brokers and consultancies as well as clients and members) for dependable, long-term growth. Deepens relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Leads with an organization-wide, client-centric, and people-oriented perspective.
  • Lead in fostering a collaborative culture across TIAA by breaking down silos, integrate cross-functional team, promoting best practices, and creating a more collaborative and dynamic market-facing team.
  • Builds high performing teams; drives accountability for business outcomes and provides regular feedback and coaching to support team members in not only meeting, but surpassing their goals.

Preferred Experience

  • Business Development and Relationship Management leadership experience in a recordkeeping business preferred.
  • Leadership experience in a similarly sized market of 100 clients and $100B in AUA preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of growing assets and number of clients.

Base Pay Range: $190,000/yr - $225,000/yr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
