Job Description:
The Sorter Position is responsible for deciding about the wholesomeness and fitness of each carcass, along with the proper disposal of unwholesome carcasses, parts and viscera to ensure they are not used as human food.
If the carcass and viscera appear wholesome, they would be allowed to continue down the line to the USDA Carcass Inspector located at the end of the line.
If the carcass is wholesome except for localized conditions that can be removed, those portions of the carcass exhibiting condemnable conditions would be removed and disposed of properly.
The rest of the carcass that is wholesome and would proceed down line to the USDA online carcass inspector.
Duties requirements to perform job include the proper use of a, knife sharpener, and PPE. Lifting of up to 10 lbs. Working in a hot and wet environment (+85° year-round).
Requirements:
Prior Employee Waiting Period: If you were previously employed at Tyson, there’s a 365-day waiting period before you can reapply.
Number of Times Worked at Tyson: You can apply if you’ve worked at Tyson no more than three times.
Failed Drug Screen - If you had a failed drug screen, you must wait 6 months before reapplying.
