This role provides an exciting opportunity to support customers with technically sound rental solutions focused on generator systems, temporary power applications and compressed air. As an Inside Rental Technical Sales Representative – Power & Energy, you will act as a technical and commercial liaison, helping customers identify the appropriate rental equipment for their operational, temporary, and emergency power needs.
You will be responsible for developing accurate quotations, recommending generator and electrical distribution configurations, and delivering a high level of customer service, with an emphasis on customer retention and proactive business development through cold calling.

Job Description:
Major Job Functions
- Proactively develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted technical resource for temporary power solutions.
- Prepare and submit rental quotations for diesel / gas generators and compressors, including supporting equipment such as transformers, load banks, switchgear, cables, distribution panels, dryers and fuel systems.
- Develop and recommend technical rental solutions related to:
- Power generation sizing and configuration
- Electrical distribution and load requirements
- Redundancy, paralleling, and synchronization considerations
- Temporary power for construction, industrial shutdowns, utilities, and emergency response
- Compressed air for industrial and pipeline applications
- Support rental project planning and execution by assisting with equipment selection, availability, and scheduling to meet customer site and load requirements.
- Drive customer retention through consistent follow‑up, technical support, and proactive relationship management.
- Conduct outbound cold calling to identify new opportunities and expand market presence.
- Collaborate with the Credit team to support account setup, credit reviews, and accurate customer information.
- Coordinate closely with internal operations, logistics, and service teams to ensure seamless equipment delivery, setup, and rental execution.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records in company systems, including customer activity notes, quotations, and rental documentation.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, equipment operation questions, and escalation to technical specialists when required.
- Participate in team meetings, sharing insights related to market conditions, customer feedback, equipment demand trends, and fleet utilization.
- Ensure all activities comply with company safety policies, operational standards, and electrical best practices.
Accountability
- Work closely with the sales team to provide inside technical support and coverage for traveling sales representatives.
- Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of rental quotations and support execution of generator rental projects.
- Develop and maintain long‑term strategic customer relationships by delivering reliable, accurate, and technically appropriate equipment solutions.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning related to generator and compressed air systems, electrical fundamentals, and rental applications.
- Maintain effective working relationships across departments, including sales, operations, service, logistics, and credit.
Experience and Education
- Strong background in customer service or inside sales, preferably in a technical or industrial environment.
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technologist education is a strong asset.
- Rental industry or technical sales experience considered an asset.
- Experience with power generation, compressed air and auxiliary power equipment.
- Working knowledge of generator fundamentals, electrical distribution, and load considerations is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
- Familiarity with system processes and safety policies is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple quotations and customer requests simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical and commercial documentation.
- Proven problem‑solving skills, including identifying power requirements and proposing effective rental solutions.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic, fast‑paced rental environment.
- Willingness to go the extra mile to support customers and ensure successful power rental outcomes.
