The Utah County Sheriff’s Department is the law enforcement agency in the county and is responsible for the preservation of the peace. The Sheriff and deputies make arrests, oversee the courts and the County Correctional Facility, and prepare legal documents for the Sheriff’s sale.

Job Summary
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an Offender Classification Specialist to help maintain safety and security within the Utah County Security Center. This position evaluates inmate behavior, conducts interviews, and reviews records to determine appropriate housing classifications and identify potential risks.
Key Responsibilities
Assess inmate behavior and risk factors to recommend safe housing assignments
Conduct inmate interviews and review criminal, institutional, and behavioral history
Monitor inmate status and document classification decisions
Respond to inmate inquiries regarding policies, court information, and programs
Coordinate with courts, attorneys, medical and mental health staff, and correctional personnel
Support classification reviews, reclassification scheduling, and work program eligibility
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human relations, or related field
Two (2) years of experience in corrections, education, treatment services, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Additional Requirements
Must be at least 21 years old
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
