Job Description Summary

               

This position requires constant monitoring of the batter system. It requires the ability to operate and troubleshoot the batter, condiment and ingredient mixing equipment. Regular sanitation of the area as well as specialty cleanups are required. Assignments include driving a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift and clamps to lift, stack, or move ingredients or materials. Efficiently maintains supplies to batter mixing, ingredient mixing and condiment handling areas. Manages to intake of ingredient inventory to batter storage area.

Job Description

  • Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs. Must be familiar with all safety rules and practices to avoid any possible food safety or any other safety hazards and to insure safety of employees in their work areas. 
  • Understands how to look up QA Specifications for batter, condiment and ingredients. 
  • Understands product codes and labels on batter and condiment tickets and how to use manifest to track inventory. 
  • Safely opens, handles and hangs batter/ingredient bags. 
  • Monitors and adjust sugar mix tank concentration as required. 
  • Monitors condiment handling system with contact to Line 2 Line Lead and Fryer Op to ensure condiment is fed as required to the line. 
  • Maintains dry batter hopper and auger levels as needed. 
  • Assembles/Disassemble batter/ingredient equipment when needed. 
  • Communicates problems to appropriate personnel. 
  • Maintains expected level of sanitation in work area. 
  • Fills out paperwork as required. 
  • Must have a good understanding of chemicals and the hazards associated with the processing area. 
  • Performs assigned duties during cut changes and defrost as required. 
  • Cleans under and around batter and sugar mix areas during normal operations. 
  • Responsible for Batter PC cleanups, allergen cleanups and non-GMO cleanups on dry and mix portions of batter system as required. 
  • Knows safety rules and regulations for lift truck operation. 
  • Inspects the lift truck prior to operation and reports any deficiency. 
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.    
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.    
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.  
  • Understand the information on the manifest tickets and how this information applies to their responsibilities. 
  • Understand the procedure for “First In First Out” procedures. 
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device as needed.    
  • Reports all equipment failures and mechanical problems to appropriate personnel 
  • Completes forms in accurate, timely and legible manner and can identify cases, labels, cuts, colors, catalog numbers, day codes and acceptable case conditions. 
  • Knows procedures for battery charging and changes. 
  • Using a computer and the associated applications (including Word and Excel), maintains inventory by ticketing, issuing, and returning dry supplies. 
  • Lock out-tag out procedures for dock locks. 
  • Knows procedures for unloading and loading Semi-trailers. 
  • Keeps the batter storage room and loading dock area clean and organized. 
  • Supplies Kd’s, paper, poly, shrink wrap, tie sheets, slip sheets, cold glue, hot glue, and tote liners for packaging. 
  • Communicates with leads/supervisors on inventories. 
  • Prints out dry supply inventory sheets. 
  • Operate ingredient bag compactor and manage appropriate storage of recyclable materials. 
  • Must be able to use computer to enter checks with Military time 
  • Tools and equipment used: high pressure hose, flash lights, hot hose, shovels , scrapers, foaming system, brooms, squeegees, telephones, ladders (roll around stairs), buckets, control panels/terminals , stein cups, stop watches and waste carts. 
  • Changes batteries on lift truck when required. 

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or experience in sanitation, processing operator or lift truck operator job 
  • Any food processing experience is a plus.  
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining integrity.
  • Three months experience using an inventory system preferred. 
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. 
  • Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English. 
  • Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one-on-one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.  
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals 
  • Ability to compute percent. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions Good decision-making and troubleshooting are necessary.
