About the role
The Infrastructure Engineer is part of the Technical Programme Delivery stream at APM Terminals. This role ensures the stability, availability, and performance of the terminal’s IT infrastructure, enabling safe and efficient terminal operations.
This is an individual contributor role with a strong hands‑on focus. While the role does not include formal people management, it may involve guiding less experienced colleagues and owning infrastructure topics end‑to‑end at the terminal.
Key responsibilities
- Own and manage the terminal’s IT infrastructure, including network and server environments
- Deliver infrastructure services and support with high quality and reliability
- Provide L1, L2, and L3 support for infrastructure and network incidents
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network environments
- Manage virtualization and compute platforms (VMware, HP infrastructure, storage)
- Work with ticketing and incident management processes using ServiceNow
- Collaborate with regional and global IT teams when required
- Ensure infrastructure stability to support 24/7 terminal operations
- Support continuous improvement of infrastructure processes and documentation
What you bring
- Solid experience in network and infrastructure engineering
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of:
- Cisco networking (L1/L2, routing fundamentals)
- Virtualization platforms (VMware)
- Windows server environments
- Experience working with ITSM processes and ticketing tools (ServiceNow or similar)
- Ability to manage incidents independently and under pressure
- Clear communication skills with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- English proficiency at intermediate (B1) level or higher
Level of autonomy & impact
- Works independently on day‑to‑day infrastructure topics
- Acts as the terminal’s primary infrastructure owner
- Escalates complex issues only when needed
- Directly impacts terminal uptime and operational continuity
Nice to have
- Experience in port, terminal, logistics, or industrial environments
- ITIL foundation knowledge
- Exposure to supporting mission‑critical operations
