Infrastructure Engineer

Location: This is a Hybrid role. Whiteley, Hampshire

Clearance Required: This role will require attainment and maintenance of SC clearance

We currently have a vacancy for an Infrastructure & Logistics Engineer. The successful candidate will plan, implement, test, document, and maintain customer wide solutions for either total system or subsystems, whilst providing technical support to a wide range of complex issues, providing solutions which are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.  These will be provided by an understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts along with a general knowledge of other related disciplines.

The ILE Engineer will be required to communicate verbally, through E-mail and provide presentations to the team and management. The candidate will be expected provide ongoing service to all users and report status to their team lead / management regularly.

The candidate will be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and show a degree of flexibility in working hours when required to meet project milestones.

Specific duties may include:

  • Provide support in carrying out all routine technical tasks, including system set-up, equipment upgrades, system backups, asset management and installations in support of projects
  • Provide technical support to all Lab users including fault finding and rectification
  • Support opportunities which increase the teams scope of work with the customer
  • Provide backup support to members of the ILE Team
  • Provide client sight service, repair and/or installation support of existing hardware, software, network configurations and new system initiatives for all sites within area of responsibility.
  • Provide roaming site support services as well as assisting in the development and ensuring adherence to area-wide procedural/policy changes. 
  • Carry out specialist technical and/or engineering activities in a professional manner in support of project and company objectives
  • Carry out complex network engineering assignments requiring familiarity and expertise with a broad field of engineering and technical knowledge
  • Work closely with a team of professional engineers in achieving assigned project objectives and be responsible for technical, cost and schedule performance
  • Create, participate in and may take responsibility for project planning and estimating, status monitoring and reporting
  • Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways
  • Ensure a wide understanding of Air Traffic Control Systems and their key components. 
  • Ensure an understanding of How Air Traffic Control works.

  • Strong analytical and technical ability
  • Good timekeeping skills
  • Good IT skills in a range of SW packages would be an advantage
  • Customer focused with a degree of flexibility to support other Leidos project work as required

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience in hardware / software application installation / maintenance in a Lab environment.
  • Experience in hardware/software application installation/maintenance in a Lab environment is essential
  • Experience of AIX version 5.2 upwards and Linux Redhat
  • Experience of Windows Server O/S System Admin / Backup
  • Any Networking experience (Working with Cisco, HP Kit)
  • Previous working knowledge of networking/data communications, including TCP-IP and DNS

Pay Range:

£61,500.00-£78,800.00
