Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Incident & Problem Management
- Serve as primary escalation point for L2 server and storage incidents.
- Lead incident triage, troubleshooting, and resolution for critical and complex issues.
- Conduct detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and implement preventive measures.
2. Server Infrastructure Administration
- Manage Windows Server and Linux Server environments, including patching, updates, and performance tuning.
- Oversee VMware vSphere/ESXi administration — VM provisioning, migration (vMotion), clustering, and resource allocation.
- Ensure server security hardening and compliance with organizational policies.
3. Storage Administration
- Administer enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, Dell EMC, or equivalent).
- Perform provisioning, performance monitoring, snapshot management, and storage tiering.
- Plan and execute storage expansions, migrations, and optimizations.
4. Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Manage enterprise backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, or equivalent), including job configuration, monitoring, and restore processes.
- Develop and test disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure business continuity.
5. Change & Configuration Management
- Review and approve server and storage changes as per ITIL change management processes.
- Maintain accurate configuration documentation and system inventories.
6. Monitoring & Reporting
- Utilize monitoring tools to track server and storage performance, capacity, and availability.
- Generate monthly reports on SLA compliance, incidents, and performance trends.
7. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with hardware/software vendors for troubleshooting, firmware updates, and warranty/RMA processes.
- Work closely with other IT teams (network, security, applications) for cross-domain issue resolution.
8. Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to L2 engineers.
- Assist in skills development and cross-training within the infrastructure team.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 6–8 years of experience in server and storage administration, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
- Hands-on expertise in Windows/Linux server management, VMware, and enterprise storage systems.
- Experience with backup technologies (Veeam, Commvault, or similar).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in critical situations.
- Familiarity with ITIL v4 processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
- Preferred Certifications: MCSE/MCSA, VMware VCP, NetApp NCDA/NCIE, ITIL Foundation.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with occasional data center visits.
- Participation in on-call rotation for critical issues.
- May require after-hours work during planned maintenance or urgent incidents.
