Major Duties:

  • If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Information Technology support for the Northern District of Illinois. Typical work assignments will include: Maintaining network, architecture and infrastructure; Configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers, and switches; Resolves hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; Optimizes system performance and identifies components to improve overall systems performance; Manages accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment; Monitors functionality, security and integrity of internet services. Manages internet servers; Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains customer hardware and software. Providing for customer training Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications: GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level. Specialized Experience: Qualifying experience demonstrates possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Specialized experience is defined as configuration, installation, or management of network systems; installing Windows based servers and maintaining existing servers; establishing metrics to measure and evaluate systems performance; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; installing and maintaining compatible database systems.
