Spectrolab is seeking a seasoned and innovative Information Technology (IT) leader to lead the Business Information Systems (BIS) team at our Sylmar manufacturing facility. In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) IT Business Partner organization, with a dotted line to the President of Spectrolab.
Spectrolab is the world’s leading merchant supplier of high efficiency, multi-junction solar cells and panels for spacecraft power systems with proven reliability drawn from six decades of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as the International Space Station. Since its founding in 1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high-efficiency solar cells for space missions. Spectrolab airborne searchlights have been the industry standard since 1968.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day operations of a complex IT infrastructure that includes factory automation systems, SAP, Spectrolab unique custom and Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications and hardware
Partner with the business to implement innovative IT solutions for the factory
Manage a diverse team of IT professionals including on-site employees and contractors, and off-site contractors providing 24/7 support for SAP
Manage the IT Budget such as providing accurate budget estimates, operating at or under budget, and finding innovative ways to reduce operating costs
Maintain compliance with Boeing and Government (NIST 180-171) cyber security requirements
Manage software purchases and renewals
Manage technical debt to ensure products get and stay ahead of the technology obsolescence curve
Leverage Boeing IT for common solutions
Understand and adhere to Boeing IT processes and policies in the day-today management of the Spectrolab IT environment
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher
5+ years of experience with leading and/or managing a team
5+ years of experience within information technology
5+ years of experience working in a cross functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership
5+ years of experience with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active CISSP and/or Security+ certifications
Experience with project management leading large corporate-wide IT projects
Experience using or supporting SAP products and functionality
Experience in using or supporting SQL-based products
Experience with Agile Software Development methodology
Experience with managing the IT budget
Experience with solar cell manufacturing and engineering to best support the factory
