The Information Specialist Senior is a technical leader who partners with Data Architects, Data Engineers, and internal Business Partners to define requirements, architect scalable data and analytics solutions, and drive best practices across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI. This role leads complex initiatives, establishes data and BI standards, and provides technical mentorship to junior and mid-level Information Specialists. The Information Specialist Senior applies advanced AI/ML and generative AI tools—such as Glean, Microsoft Copilot, and Fabric AI—to enhance solution design, improve data quality, and accelerate delivery.

We are looking for a Information Specialist who will:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex Azure and Microsoft Fabric data solutions, including lakehouses, semantic models, and enterprise-grade Power BI solutions.
  • Collaborate with architects, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to refine requirements, define solution patterns, and align analytics initiatives with business strategy.
  • Lead end-to-end solution delivery, including requirements refinement, architecture design, development oversight, performance optimization, and production deployment/stabilization.
  • Establish and promote best practices for data modeling, semantic layer design, governance, security, and lifecycle management across Azure, Fabric, and Power BI.
  • Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, including conducting design and code reviews.
  • Drive data governance practices, including metadata management, data lineage, data quality frameworks, and documentation standards.
  • Use AI/ML and generative AI tools (e.g., Glean, Copilot, Fabric AI) to enhance solution design, streamline workflows, automate documentation, and improve data quality and insights.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex, cross-system data, modeling, and analytics issues across dev/test/prod environments, including performance tuning and optimization.
  • Evaluate emerging Azure, Fabric, Power BI, and AI capabilities and make recommendations for roadmap, standards, and modernization opportunities.
  • Contribute to or lead continuous-improvement efforts across processes, tooling, DevOps/CI-CD, and operational support for analytics platforms.
  • Participate in rotating 24x7 on-call support as an escalation point for critical data and analytics services, as needed.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • May require domestic and/or international travel up to 5%.
  • Demonstrate CSG’s core competencies and values, modeling effective communication, collaboration, and leadership behaviors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data transformation, enterprise data modeling and data governance.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in a business environment

  • Extensive experience designing and implementing complex data models, semantic layers, and scalable Azure Data and Microsoft Fabric solutions (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, Fabric lakehouses, Fabric Dataflows, or similar).
  • Advanced experience developing and governing Power BI solutions, including data modeling, DAX optimization, performance tuning, security (RLS/OLS), deployment pipelines, and workspace administration.
  • Strong expertise in SQL and DAX, and experience working with large-scale relational, dimensional, and distributed data platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end analytics solution delivery, including architecture design, technical oversight, risk management, and cross-team coordination.
  • Hands-on experience using AI/ML and generative AI tools—such as Glean, Copilot tools, Fabric AI/AI Studio, and other enterprise AI platforms—to accelerate analytics, improve data quality, automate workflows, and enhance solution design.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior and mid-level engineers, providing architectural direction, and conducting design and code reviews.
  • Strong background in ETL/ELT design and optimization, including data pipelines, orchestration, data quality checks, and observability using Azure Data services and Fabric.
  • Experience establishing or contributing to data governance standards, metadata management, lineage documentation, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with architects, Data Scientists, business leaders, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact analytics solutions that align with organizational strategy.
  • Significant experience working within Agile, SDLC, and ITIL operational environments and contributing to process and standards improvements.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex data, modeling, or analytics issues across environments (dev/test/prod), including performance and scalability challenges.
  • Experience with modern DevOps and CI/CD approaches for analytics (e.g., source control for Power BI/Fabric artifacts, deployment pipelines, automation).
  • Experience with legacy platforms (e.g., SSIS, SSRS, on-premises data warehouses) and leading modernization or migration to Azure/Fabric is a plus.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML models or pipelines into enterprise analytics solutions, including operationalization and monitoring (MLOps concepts).
  • Experience with enterprise work tracking and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Azure DevOps) and decision logging.
  • Hands-on experience with ITIL platforms such as Helix or ServiceNow.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, and enterprise collaboration or knowledge management platforms (including integration with tools like Glean).
  • Experience influencing or contributing to organizational data strategy, analytics roadmap, or platform governance forums.
