Informatics Sales Specialist

Illumina is seeking an exceptional Informatics Sales Specialist to drive commercial growth across the Middle East and emerging markets. This role is ideal for a bioinformatics expert who thrives in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment and is passionate about transforming how genomic data is analyzed, shared, and applied across research and clinical settings.

Based in Dubai or Saudi you will leverage your deep scientific expertise and commercial acumen to position Illumina as the region’s leading provider of cloud‑based genomics platforms, supporting customers across Research, Clinical Genomics, Healthcare, Pharma, and Population Genomics. This role will have considerable travel involved across GCC, Africa, and Turkey.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Impact

  • Drive regional sales growth for Illumina’s informatics portfolio, from lead identification to closing.
  • Represent Illumina at regional conferences, roadshows, trade events, and customer seminars.
  • Coach customers on optimal use of Illumina’s cloud-native informatics solutions to accelerate adoption and long‑term usage.

Technical Leadership

Expertise areas include (but are not limited to):

  • NGS data analysis, interpretation, annotation, and reporting
  • Clinical sequencing workflows
  • LIMS and laboratory informatics
  • Cloud‑based pipelines and workflow automation
  • Genomic applications and computational methods
  • Data science (AI / Machine Learning)
  • Demonstrating product fit through proof-of-concept analyses

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work closely with account managers, sales specialists, and channel partners to ensure customer success.
  • Deliver basic and advanced informatics presentations, workshops, and training.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships across technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Provide Voice‑of‑Customer insights to global development and marketing teams.
  • Act as the regional subject matter expert, enabling capability development across internal teams and distributors.
  • Prepare and present key sales performance metrics as needed.
  • Contribute to strategic account planning and regional market development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including:
    • At least 5 years as a bioinformatician (advanced degree included)
    • Minimum 3 years in B2B life sciences sales within the GCC
  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • NGS data analysis (variant calling, filtering, annotation, interpretation, reporting)
    • Multiomic applications and data formats
    • Enterprise‑level informatics platforms and pipelines
    • Cloud technologies and provider pricing models
  • Exceptional communication and training skills in English
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work autonomously in complex, cross‑functional environments
  • Proven success in customer‑facing roles delivering world‑class service
  • Must be able and willing to travel ~ 40% across GCC, Africa, and Turkey
  • Fluency in Arabic highly desirable - French would be a plus.

Education

  • Degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry
