Industry Analyst
Description -
Key Responsibilities
- Researching and coming up with fundamental drivers of markets
- Research and create a driver surveillance dashboard for each market (category and geo)
- Develop and maintain top-down and bottom-up models for each market
- Develop coherent and connected communication materials expressing market point of views
- Socialize researched point of view to our partners and executive leadership team
- Proactive in developing thought provoking and business impacting market trend analyses
- Use intuition to generate hypothesis that lead to thought leadership and/or challenge conventional thinking
Education and Experience Required
- Master of Science (MS) or higher in Economics, Statistics, Finance, or Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- 10+ experience in roles involving forecasting and analysing market trends
- 5+ years as a hardware, services and software industry analyst
- Experience predicting markets intuitively over the short and long term based on the future dynamics of fundamental drivers
- Experience calculating market size using fundamental top-down and bottom-up models
- Experience analysing the expenditure behaviour of consumer and corporations of information technology products and services
Knowledge and Skills
- Familiarity with advanced forecasting methods including time-series modelling and regression analyses
- Strong background in global economic indicators of consumer, corporation, and government financial health
- Deep understanding of demographic, firmographic, and psychographic analyses
- Knowledgeable in key global macroeconomic database: World Bank, IMF, OECD, etc.
- Familiarity with major technology data vendors: IDC, Gartner, GfK, Context, etc.
- Background in statistical modelling tools (R, Python etc.) and familiarity with SQL a plus
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel and Excel-VBA, Power Point, Access
- Passion for understanding what make market ticks
- Comfortable with collaborating with business partners ranging from individual contributors to executives
- Excellent problem solving and written/oral communications abilities
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills
- Excellent presentation skills especially in presenting complex topics to senior executives
- Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional teams
- Very strong consensus-building and conflict-resolution skills
- High degree of initiative, flexibility and positive attitude
The pay range for this role is $140,000 to $180,000 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
