Hexcel is currently seeking an Industrialization Engineer for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Maintain and manage pilot prepreg processing equipment and activities to support R&D efforts for internal and external customers
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to process continuous improvement, process quality, process safety, equipment maintenance, raw material procurement, and schedule attainment
- Investigate and design new prepreg processing equipment and technologies to produce next generation composite material
- Lead new product development efforts to scale fiber, resin, film, and prepreg products from pilot scale to production scale within Hexcel facilities
- Support product development efforts with internal R&D staff, Product Management, and Technical Development Management
- Ability to become an expert on resin, film, and prepreg related processing best practices and interfaces with global counterparts to share knowledge and learnings
- Training, indirectly managing, and developing technicians that operate the pilot scale equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in the field of chemistry, engineering or a related science; Strong preference for chemical, material science or mechanical engineers
- 5+ years of industry experience, preferably in a production, pilot or research environment. Industry experience with composite product scale up preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to translate customer needs into actual targets and products, self-starter, ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to apply design of experiment concepts to hypothesis testing. Ability to perform measurement system analyses on new and existing IPC tests. Ability to apply statistical
- principles such as frequency distribution, ANOVA and regression to scientific principles. Green Belt training and/or certification strongly preferred.
- Technical report writing, data collection/analysis, strong attention to detail, and ability to set and meet deadlines.
- Ability to understand engineering requirements, safety requirements, standard operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ability to use team collaboration software (Microsoft Teams, SharePoint). Experience in SolidWorks and Minitab is preferred.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel in different groups in both written and oral forms and ability to carry out written and/or oral instructions and procedures.
