As our Global Industrial Relations Manager, you’ll shape and deliver our strategy for effective relationships with trade unions and works councils worldwide. With a key focus on Europe and growing reach across other regions (including Southeast Asia), you’ll coach managers, advise senior leaders, and help navigate complex industrial relations landscapes to support both our people and our business objectives.
Reporting to the Global Director of Employee Relations, you’ll act as the central point of expertise for collective bargaining, union negotiations, and works council engagement globally. You’ll benchmark our approach against leading global practices, drive consistency, and ensure legal compliance across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, design, and implement global industrial relations strategies, with emphasis on Europe (particularly Poland, Netherlands, France and Germany) and SEA.
Be the key support for HR when managing trade unions and works councils, handling collective bargaining and consultation processes.
Coach and support managers and HR teams on industrial relations, dispute resolution, and negotiations.
Provide expert advice on employment law and industrial relations, ensuring compliance in all operating countries.
Identify and mitigate industrial relations risks, advising on proactive solutions and approach.
Benchmark roles and practices against global standards, ensuring competitive and compliant strategies.
Manage and resolve complex industrial relations issues and disputes spanning more than one country or region.
Managing complex workplace disputes relating to Works Councils and/or Trade Unions, ensuring swift and pragmatic resolutions.
Maintain strong external networks and stay current on evolving global industrial relations trends.
Support global business projects and organisational change initiatives from an industrial relations standpoint.
At least 5 years’ experience in industrial relations within a multinational environment, with deep understanding of European labour laws, collective bargaining frameworks, and works council requirements; Southeast Asia experience desirable.
Legal qualification or extensive knowledge of employment/industrial relations law.
Confident negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to coach and develop managers at all levels on industrial relations issues.
Demonstrated record of benchmarking, policy development, and best practice sharing across multiple locations.
Skilled in handling complex, sensitive, or multi-country industrial relations cases.
Strategic mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.
Fluency in English; additional European languages a plus.
Willingness to travel, mainly within Europe when required.
Desirable:
Professional HR or legal accreditation (e.g., CIPD, LL.M, bar admission).
