Job Summary: This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major Duties:

  • You will evaluate work practices and environmental conditions for hazards to the safety and health of workers.
  • You will detect violations of published occupational health standards.
  • You will follow up on abatement actions, conducting training on industrial hygiene subjects, and respiratory protection programs.
  • You will conduct pre-and post-survey training conferences with management and/or employee representatives to brief on the nature, scope and results of the survey.
  • You will provide technical training services to management on OSH related matters such as asbestos, ergonomics, thermal effects, and chemical hazards.
  • You will respond to incidents of an urgent or special nature, such as spills of hazardous chemicals, acute chemical exposures and complaint calls.
  • You will record data, prepare and send samples to the appropriate laboratory for analysis.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Collaborating, operating and performing field maintenance on a variety of Industrial Hygiene equipment (i.e. such as sampling pumps, toxic gas, vapor, particulate analyzers, asbestos, microscopes, and analytical balances) to monitor collaboration devices; 2) Performing Industrial Hygiene laboratory functions using polarizing light microscopy to identify various types of asbestos material; 3) Identifying various types of asbestos material, asbestos fiber levels, and airborne dust concentration using analytical balance; 4) Maintaining organizational hygiene programs (e.g., noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, asbestos management plans) to support safe operations.
