Industrial Engineer Intern

Job Summary:

The Industrial Engineering Intern will assist with data collection for the development of factory simulation software by performing time studies and analyzing existing data, suggesting process improvement opportunities, and assisting with factory layout changes. This role supports optimizing the manufacturing of advanced packaging of wafer and die level bare silicon products.

Responsibilities:

Data Collection (60%) 

  • Perform time studies to determine manufacturing process variables such as throughput, operator utilization rates, material consumption rates, and other expenditure categories.
  • Analyze existing data to extrapolate material consumption rates, equipment downtime events, and other expenditure categories.

LEAN Project Management (20%) 

  • Recommend an operational efficiency improvement project that would benefit from LEAN principles.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gain insight and data.
  • Develop a project plan for implementation.
  • Present project plan details to leadership.

Factory Layout Changes (15%) 

  • Utilize AutoCAD to update factory layout changes
  • Recommend layout changes to improve efficiency
  • Assist the Senior Industrial Engineer with project management of layout alterations

Other Duties & Compliance (5%) 

  • Adhere to clean room protocols including use of lab coat, hairnet, booties, facemask, gloves, eye-protective lenses along with all other PPE requirements. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Junior level or higher working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Process Engineering, Business Engineering and Management Science, or another relevant program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with LEAN and Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute innovative ideas to engineering projects. 
  • Previous internship or work experience in manufacturing is preferred but not required.

A reasonable estimate of the hourly pay for this position is $25.00 - $27.00 an hour. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package
