The Group: Morningstar Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstar`s intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors’ success at every stage of the investment process - market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.
The Role: Morningstar Indexes seeks an intelligent and creative professional for its Index Production & Calculation team. The primary function of the team is to support the Indexes File Delivery for the external clients across asset classes (Equity, Fixed Income, Alternatives, Multi-Asset) and Real Time Monitoring around 300+ Indexes and following with internal/ internal stakeholder for the quick fix and resolution. The team is also responsible for handling data analysis, integrity of data across different databases that power new products and maintenance platforms, regulatory compliance, and production automation. This role provides a balanced exposure to both back-end index operations and front-end, either directly or through client queries. We are looking for a person who is passionate about investing and with good knowledge about sourcing, maintaining and validating cross-asset class data. This position will be in Vashi, Navi Mumbai (India).
Responsibilities:
Responsible for delivering daily index calculation files and monitoring Real-Time Indexes to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of level data feeds.
Escalation of bottleneck issues to stakeholders, vendors and liaise with them
Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements and validation workflows, ensuring smooth deployment into production environments.
Possess a strong understanding of upstream datasets such as Corporate Actions, Market Data, Shares, Float, Reference Data, and Holiday Calendars
Responsible for sourcing and validating input data used in index calculations through rigorous quality assurance checks
Own and drive continuous improvement within the process through quality initiatives
Manage data as per client-specific requirements, while at the same time adhering to Morningstar's set KPIs and KRAs
Discover and raise issues in work (including system, process, and methodology) and propose enhancement suggestions to further improve system functionality, process efficiency and data quality
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in economics/ finance/business, Master’s degree would be an added advantage
3+ years’ experience in the financial domain related to equity data
Proficient with data management policies, procedures and common technical tools.
Working knowledge of Python is a strong advantage for data automation and analysis tasks. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, data analysis functions, and macros; familiarity with collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Teams, or JIRA.
