What you'll be doing 

                                                        

As an Income Tax Strategist, you are responsible for supporting and working closely with Business Development Officers, Relationship Managers, members of the Wealth Strategies team, and clients to develop and implement income tax planning as part of CIBC Private Wealth’s integrated wealth management process. In addition, you will help clients and prospects understand their tax compliance and planning.   

Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview. 

How you'll succeed 

  • Income Tax Planning: Liaise with Business Development Officers, Relationship Managers, Wealth Strategies team members, and clients in a consultative role, developing holistic income tax plans to enhance the overall client experience with CIBC Private Wealth.

  • Research & Review: Research and review income tax issues. Assist with the review of income tax planning proposals and income tax compliance. Prepare written and graphical summaries.

  • Business Development Support: Support the business development effort by participating in prospect meetings and discussing possible tax planning for prospects. 

  • Thought Leadership: Contribute to the development of educational and marketing materials.

  • External & Internal Engagement: Participate in educational seminars internally. Present to client and intermediary groups externally. Promote the wealth strategies offering across the firm.


Who you are 

  • Education: You have a Bachelor's degree.

  • You have tax planning experience. You are a tax professional with at least 10-15+ years of income tax planning experience with expertise in income tax planning and accounting. Experience in estate planning, insurance planning, business succession planning and philanthropic planning preferred.

  • You have a network. You have experience with high-net-worth clients and broad connections in the income tax planning community. 

  • You are a strong communicator. You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to present complex information to internal and external clients in a clear, focused and concise manner.

  • You possess strong analytical skills. You have demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000 - $250,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
