Responsibilities: 

Data Governance & Strategy 

• Define and execute the enterprise data governance strategy, operating model, and roadmap 

• Establish data policies, standards, procedures, and controls across domains 

• Lead data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models 

Data Quality & Metadata 

• Design and oversee data quality frameworks, KPIs, issue management, and remediation 

• Implement metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, and business glossary initiatives 

• Ensure consistency of definitions, reference data, and master data management 

 
Compliance, Risk & Privacy 

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements (e.g., GDPR, DPDP Act, SOX, BCBS 239, HIPAA—as applicable) 

• Partner with Legal, Risk, and InfoSec teams on data privacy, classification, retention, and access controls 

• Support audits, regulatory exams, and risk assessments 

Stakeholder & Program Management

• Collaborate with business leaders, data owners, architects, and engineering teams 

• Lead cross-functional governance forums and steering committees 

• Manage enterprise data governance programs, budgets, and vendors 

Leadership & Enablement 

• Lead, mentor, and develop data governance managers, analysts, and data stewards 

• Drive data literacy, governance awareness, and change management initiatives 

• Define success metrics and regularly report progress to executive leadership 

Mandatory skill sets: 

• Experience with data governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Ataccama, Purview, etc.) 

Preferred skill sets: 

• Certifications: CDMP, DCAM, CIPP/E, PMP, Agile, or similar 

Years of experience required: 

12-16
