IMT Project Manager - Hybrid
The Opportunity
As an IMT Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of technology initiatives that support the organization’s priorities and Project Management Office (PMO) services within the Information Management & Technology (IMT) branch at the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). You will work closely with business and technical teams to define outcomes, build practical delivery plans, manage risks and dependencies, and keep projects moving through the right governance and decision points. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex work, partnering across teams, and delivering meaningful technology improvements in a collaborative hybrid environment.
You’ll join a team that values clear communication, practical problem solving, and continuous improvement in project delivery. In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence how technology work is planned and governed, contribute to stronger PMO practices, and help deliver solutions that provide value to internal partners and Albertans. If you are motivated by complex delivery work, stakeholder collaboration, and the chance to grow your impact across a diverse portfolio, this is an excellent opportunity to build on your project management experience.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Lead technology projects from initiation through close-out, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks, issues, and changes to deliver agreed outcomes.
Work with business and technical stakeholders to clarify objectives, define deliverables, identify dependencies, develop estimates, and create achievable project plans.
Facilitate project forums, status meetings, and governance activities while providing clear reporting on progress, decisions, risks, and items requiring leadership direction.
Maintain core project artifacts such as plans, schedules, risk and issue logs, decision records, communication plans, and change tracking in alignment with PMO standards.
Support change management and stakeholder alignment by communicating effectively, managing expectations, and helping teams prepare for adoption of delivered solutions.
Contribute to stronger PMO operations by improving standards and templates, supporting portfolio visibility, capturing lessons learned, and reinforcing delivery best practices.
What we’re looking for in you:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Commerce, Engineering, or a related discipline.
5–7 years of project management experience, including at least 3 years leading complex software delivery projects.
A PMP designation is preferred; Agile certification or experience delivering in Agile or hybrid environments is considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of project delivery practices, including planning, estimation, risk and issue management, dependency tracking, change control, and executive-ready reporting.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional work, coordinate business and technical stakeholders, and translate business needs into practical delivery plans.
Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build alignment and support informed decision-making.
