Job Description
Nidec is seeking an experienced Immigration Specialist to play a crucial role in managing the immigration and expatriate services for our international assignments. As one of the primary point of contact for expatriates, you will provide expert guidance and support throughout the entire expatriate lifecycle, ensuring compliance with immigration laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Primary point of contact for expatriates for the life cycle of the expatriate assignment via telephone, email or face-to-face communication
- Create an expatriate policy and process with assistance from Legal, HR and Tax; communicate and implement the policy and process with effective change management
- Counsel expatriates on expatriate policy administration and interpretation, processes and procedures, and provide counsel on regional nuances, identifying when expert legal or tax advice is needed and facilitating that connection/advice with the appropriate partners
- Provide leadership and act as key contact for managers, HR Business Partners, Payroll, HRIS, Tax and Finance for any issues involving expatriate administration
- Coordinate with destination services vendors to ensure execution of services, contract terms, and expatriate policy compliance, if applicable
- Identify, investigate, and research complex and unique expatriate issues. Work with management and other groups to develop and assess alternatives and develop solutions recognizing the intent of policy. Implement the recommended solution with effective change management
- Ensure that the administration of the expatriate services is carried out in accordance to policies and guidelines, and are applied in a consistent and standardized manner across the region
- Ensure resolution of both internal and external customer requests, queries and complaints to provide a high level of customer service
- Assist with Certificate of Coverage applications, where possible
- Coordinate individual income tax payments with external tax return preparer and employee
- Work with external tax advisor and Payroll Dept to ensure proper reporting of compensation/benefits and hypothetical tax withholding
- Ensure compliance with company’s tax equalization policy and proper settlement of employee’s taxes
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- +3 years of experience in global mobility, international assignment management, or related fields.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Cultural sensitivity and a genuine interest in supporting employees in their international assignments.
- Proficient knowledge of immigration laws, tax regulations, and employment laws in various countries.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, International Business, or a related field
