St. Lucie West is looking to add an Imaging Assistant to the Radiation Oncology team. In this role, you will assist the technologist in preparing the patient's room and materials for appropriate radiology procedures as well as transport patients to and from departments. It will be your goal to treat each patient as family and improve workflow and fall risk assistance with each interaction. This is a great introduction to the Radiation Oncology field prior to schooling as a Radiation Therapist.
A caregiver in this position works 5 8-hour shifts per week, Monday-Friday, between 6:00AM – 6:00PM. Flexibility is needed as the start/end times vary based on patient needs.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assists technologist with preparing patients, room and materials for appropriate procedures.
Assist with processing of images and networking functions.
Deliver and chart radiology reports.
Deliver and pick up any other item, supply, chart, films or specimens as required.
Perform general cleaning of wheelchairs and stretchers.
Clean and organize work areas of the department on own initiative, maintaining orderliness and cleanliness in procedure rooms.
Help maintain adequate supplies in all procedure rooms.
File Room: Listen to voice mail messages and handle requests, i.e., prepare images and reports for pick up, mail or fax.
Prepare and sort items for delivery to PFS, interoffice, medical records and mailroom.
File incoming films and mammography jackets into the system.
Open mail and all sorts of items for department, hospital or clinic delivery.
Determine appropriate disposition of incoming films and notify the appropriate person of receipt of films.
Transportation: Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of transportation for patients.
Transport patients to the department and back to their rooms when workload warrants or as directed by supervisors.
Assist all outpatients and inpatients, with personal requirements as needed.
Work cooperatively to ensure the completion of all tasks related to radiology procedures.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of experience working in an imaging department setting
Computer skills
Patient care and/or fall risk experience
Physical Requirements:
Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and to work collaboratively with other members of the Healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.
Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
