In-services, monitors, and implements behavior programs and behavioral support systems. Collects and records data for summarization by the psychologist and/or completion of monthly progress reviews by performing the following duties. Relies on direction and supervision to accomplish the job.

Education, Licensure, and Experience required for the position include: High School Diploma or GED Required and one year of experience with the population served preferred. Graduate degrees in related areas preferred.

Physical requirements to perform essential functions of the job included:
Regular required to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Must be able to pull a minimum of 25 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stop. Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Required to regularly stand and walk. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear

RHA Health Services is looking for a driven, resourceful and passionate Behavior Specialist to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team focused on monitoring, implementing and documenting behavior programs and behavioral support systems for our direct home care teams.

In this dynamic role you will work closely with the psychologist collecting and recording data, as well as completing monthly progress reviews for summarization by the psychologist.

Job Responsibilities

As a Behavior Specialist, you will be responsible for working closely with interdisciplinary healthcare team and other clinical staff to maintain communication and provide feedback, standardizing procedures, expediting habilitation plan implementation and work-flow to improve efficiency of home care staff.

Additional responsibilities of the Behavior Analyst include:

  • Assisting in scheduling specialized psychiatric and psychological assessments and appointments and providing follow-up support as directed by the psychologist
  • Establishing and maintaining behavior support intervention notebooks for homes and vocational centers and ensuring materials are available to implement behavior support plans
  • Developing and authoring behavior support plans and systems that do not involve restrictive procedures
  • Completing Adaptive Behavior Assessments such as the Vineland Social Maturity Scale to assist psychologists in completing full psychological evaluations
  • Completing functional analysis through observation and interview to determine the probable causes and maintaining factors involved in a maladaptive behavior
  • Providing individual and group in-service training for current and new staff concerning new behavior support plans and plan changes
  • Spending adequate amount of time in the residential facility monitoring and providing feedback to staff in interactions and relationships with people supported
  • Observing and modeling appropriate behavior skills in group homes, schools, workplace, and vocational/administrative units

Successful candidates for the Behavior Specialist role are able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, families, guardians and the general public. Someone who can develop organizational and communication skills that foster teamwork will be a good fit for this role.

Additional requirements for the Behavior Specialist role include:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or 3 to 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid drivers’ license and automotive insurance
  • Ability to read and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
  • CPR, first aid, NCI and/or other role specific certification
