HVAC Technician – JLL

What this job involves:

Advance your HVAC career with JLL at a premier multi-building facility in North Austin/Round Rock! As an HVAC Technician, you'll operate, maintain, and repair critical facility HVAC equipment while working alongside a collaborative team of 10+ engineering professionals in a 24/7 operational environment. This role offers hands-on experience with diverse mechanical systems, opportunities to learn from subject matter experts, and clear pathways for career growth in engineering or facilities management. You'll perform moderately complex technical tasks including inspection, repair, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment, air handlers, piping systems, and complex machinery. Reporting to the Lead HVAC Technician, you'll contribute to seamless facility operations while developing your technical expertise and potentially leading others on specialized assignments.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment including large complex air movement and HVAC systems
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Take ownership of cross-shift issues and drive them to complete resolution
  • Assemble, install, and test complicated mechanical equipment, apparatus, and assemblies
  • Inspect, repair, and replace pumps, piping systems, valves, components, and fittings
  • Analyze heating, cooling, and humidification cycles to identify components, diagnose problems, and perform routine maintenance
  • Use diagnostic test equipment and hand tools to locate causes of breakdowns and implement corrective solutions
  • Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and ensure compliance with codes and standards
  • Advise team members on equipment safety and potential system damage risks
  • Maintain detailed records, prepare reports, and order supplies and equipment
  • Oversee regularly scheduled testing and preventive maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, and instrumentation systems
  • Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform work safely and completely

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • EPA Universal Certification (mandatory)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards for mechanical and HVAC maintenance
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, specifications, work orders, and equipment manuals
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (JCI, Siemens, Automated Logic, etc.)
  • CMMS experience with strong documentation skills—essential for our operations
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces and on roofs
  • Flexibility to work different schedules, holidays, weekends, and respond to after-hours emergencies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years' experience with mechanical and HVAC systems in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Technical College or Trade Program completion
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC system diagnostics and repair techniques
  • Experience working in multi-building campus environments
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance program management

Location: North Austin / Round Rock, Texas

Work Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on-site | Rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergencies ($3/hour shift premium during on-call week)
