The HVAC Technician II performs intermediate-level installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role requires solid technical knowledge, the ability to work independently, and experience with troubleshooting residential and/or commercial HVAC equipment.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including filters, coils, belts, motors, and controls.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in furnaces, condensers, heat pumps, chillers, rooftop units, and ventilation systems.
Install and commission HVAC equipment such as split systems, mini-splits, air handlers, package units, and thermostats.
Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, gauges, leak detectors) to identify issues and complete necessary repairs.
Assist with refrigerant handling, recovery, charging, and leak testing in compliance with EPA standards.
Ensure all work follows safety regulations, building codes, and company procedures.
Provide excellent customer service, explain findings, and recommend solutions to clients.
Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inventory of materials.
Mentor entry-level technicians as needed.
High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school preferred.
2–4 years of HVAC experience (or equivalent Level II competency).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Strong understanding of HVAC electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in confined or elevated spaces.
