Job Summary: The Secret Service is seeking retirees of the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) or Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) to support our integrated mission and impart knowledge and experience to the current workforce. Joining the Secret Service, Office of Human Resources, will allow you to perform a wide variety of recruitment, hiring, classification, and applicant coordination functions in support of the agency's human capital mission.

Major Duties:

  • The selectee will serve as a Human Resources Specialist in the Office of Human Resources under one of our divisions to include: Recruitment Division (REC), Expedited Hiring Division (XPD), Classification and Position Management Division (CPM), or Law Enforcement Acquisition Division (LED)/Applicant Coordination Center (ACC). Typical work assignments include: Providing guidance to stakeholders on recruitment strategies, expedited hiring, applicant coordination, classification and/or applicable federal hiring authorities to attract and retain a highly qualified workforce aligned with mission priorities. Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders, regional field offices, and external organizations to enhance outreach, strengthen recruitment pipelines, applicant processing, and promote mission-focused hiring initiatives. Coordinating and executing expedited hiring processes for Special Agent and Uniformed Division applicants, including pre-employment reviews, security processing coordination, and scheduling polygraph examinations to ensure timely hiring actions. Collaborating with HR specialty areas to ensure consistent application of classification policies; develop supplemental guidance, training, and instructions to enhance stakeholder understanding of classification and position management programs. Establishing and classifying position descriptions in accordance with Title 5 requirements and OPM classification standards, ensuring accurate alignment of duties, responsibilities, and organizational structure while maintaining regulatory compliance. Qualifications: To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below: GS-13 Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS- 13 level (starting salary $121,785.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: Providing advisory services to stakeholders on staffing and/or hiring strategies, classification, or applicant coordination and; Interpreting Federal laws, regulations, policies, and guidance governing federal human capital practices and; Developing strategic recruitment strategies to source new talent, managing hiring procedures, including applicant review and pre-employment processing or; Conducting data analysis to identify trends and risks to recommend improvements to organizational hiring processes or; Developing position descriptions for a variety of job series and grade levels.
