Job Summary:

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to serve as a strategic partner to operational and clinical leaders in advancing workforce engagement, development, and retention. In this role, the HRBP works closely with leadership to align people strategies with organizational priorities, supporting a high-performing and engaged workforce that delivers exceptional patient care.

Job Description:

The HRBP provides consultative support to leaders on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and change management. Through data-driven insights and strong partnership with leaders, this role helps identify opportunities to strengthen employee engagement, improve retention, and enhance leadership capability. While employee relations support is part of the role, the primary focus is on proactive partnership and strategic workforce initiatives that support operational success.

The Work:

  • Partner with operational and clinical leaders to develop and implement strategies that improve employee engagement, retention, and workforce effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on talent management, leadership development, organizational design, and change management initiatives.
  • Use workforce data, engagement feedback, and HR metrics to identify trends and recommend strategies that strengthen team performance and reduce turnover.
  • Coach and support leaders in building strong teams, enhancing leadership effectiveness, and supporting employee development and career growth.
  • Support workforce planning and organizational initiatives that align staffing, structure, and capabilities with evolving healthcare needs.
  • Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters and support investigations when necessary, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant practices.

You Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Master's Preferred) and 5-7+ years of professional experience doing strategic level HR work. SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
  • Employee Relations experience (at all levels) across a large/complex organizational structure.
  • Experience with leadership development.
  • Experience managing change in a dynamic organizational environment.
  • Strategic analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Enjoys working alongside colleagues in a collaborative, in-person HR team while utilizing limited remote work flexibility once established in the role.
