Mission
To continuously identify, plan and deliver health and safety improvements which impact the reduction of accidents and incidents on site and to ensure compliance with both legislative and Valeo H&S requirements.
Responsibilities
Aim to achieve zero accidents on site.
Ensure the site adopts the highest standards and approach to Health and Safety and that employee welfare is at a high level.
Keep up to date on all matters regarding Health and Safety legislation and guidance and keep management and employees informed. Ensure employees and company adhere to their responsibilities under safety, health and welfare at work legislation.
Support implementation of Valeo Directives and associated roadmaps and audit compliance to same.
Manage site wide risk assessment program including management of chemical safety risks and ensure any actions identified from risk assessments are followed through to completion.
Provide guidance and information on the Introduction of new equipment, machinery and new production lines and cells.
Manage Contractor Safety Management program and prevention plans.
Ensure HSE Management system is maintained and continuously improved and in compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Manage and carry out regular safety audits and inspections ensuring timely closure of all identified actions.
Participate in accident investigations and safety corrective and preventive actions including documentation and follow-up of issues associated with occupational injuries/illness.
Develop, implement and maintain training programs for health, safety and environment.
Support the Emergency Response Team by developing training, updating the emergency response plan and identifying improvements.
Improve health and safety awareness through all levels of the organisation by using various communication tools and organising specific H&S initiatives.
Be responsible for Environmental Risk Indicators and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Reporting.
Coordinate the Internal environmental audit schedule of activities.
Support the business in the completion of environmental audit action Items and continuous Improvement as part of the ISO 14001 management system.
Develop and implement a Sustainable Development and Energy Management Strategy for the site working with other key stakeholders and promoting engagement of employees e.g. Sustainable Development Week.
Develop and implement a Site Environmental strategy with associated action plans to identify, assess and reduce environmental risks and associated costs, identifying opportunities for improvement and savings.
Keep abreast of all relevant Environmental legislation nationally and within the EU ensuring Site is compliant with all requirements including Valeo specific requirements and conduct regular site audits to ensure compliance.
Maintain and develop the site’s Environmental systems including implementation, maintenance & audit co-ordination for ISO14001 audits and participation in other relevant audits e.g. ISO 45001, Valeo Group HSE Audits.
Education/Training
Diploma/Degree in Health & Safety related discipline essential.
Computer skills essential.
Requirements
At least five years experience in Health, Safety & Environment preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be proactive, confident and well organised with outstanding attention to detail.
Have excellent prioritisation and time management skills.
Be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate others.
Be target and delivery focused with a proven ability of working successfully under pressure.
Be able to work on own initiative.
Candidate must have a mindset of continuous improvement.
