What Will You Do

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Structures Engineer II onsite at Tinker AFB Oklahoma City, to join our Hot Section Engineering (HSE) Structures Engineering group. Structures Engineer II will be resolving engine issues that develop at the depot during engine rebuild and provide structural analysis to these issues under the mentorship of current leaders. The Engineer will be part of the Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPT’s) which are responsible for resolving high priority engines tear down and rebuilding challenges for military engine power and exhaust system. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as the onsite engineer
  • Provide structural evaluations that may involve consideration of strength, buckling, deflections, vibrations, fatigue life, damage tolerance and/or any other appropriate criterion, using Pratt and Whitney's Engineering Standard Work (ESW)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
  • Work within a team environment with MROE, Design, Project and Durability Engineers
  • Drive engineering changes and participate in IPT meetings to enhance producibility, reduce costs, and improve throughput.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 2 years of engineering experience or an advanced degree
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Knowledge of gas turbine engines, power and exhaust system
  • Good analytical, problem solving communication, presentation, teaming and collaboration skills.
  • Working knowledge of ANSYS APDL and/or Workbench
  • Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
  • Collaborate in applying continuous improvement methodologies to enhance performance.

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)

The Oklahoma City Campus (OCC) is responsible for engineering activities for hardware throughout the aircraft engine, including Compression Systems (Fan, Low Pressure Compressor, High Pressure Compressor), Hot Section (Combustor, High Pressure Turbine, Low Pressure Turbine and Exhaust) and Mechanical System modules across all Pratt & Whitney's military products. OCC is located near the Tinker Air Force Base and tasks will be linked to the inspected hardware from military engines.  This opportunity is specific to join our Hot Section component Structures Team.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
