1The HSE Specialist in the TPE business is responsible for providing support for and conducting analysis of Operational Excellence (OE) Processes including Control of Work (CoW), Contractor OE Management (COEM), Emergency Management (EM), Land Transportation Safety (LTS), and Occupational Hygiene (OH) activities. This role includes the development and implementation of safe work practices and standards, maintaining accurate data, and delivering Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) metrics and reports. The Safety Specialist collaborates with operational teams to enhance workplace safety and ensure compliance with Chevron’s Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS).
• Serve as a technical resource for field safety matters and OE Processes, including interpretation and application of standards ensuring compliance with regulations and industry guidance, based on where business line is working and with the support of local teams.
• Technical review of safety work plans (excavation/shoring, lift plans, electrical work plans).
• Technical review of Permit to Work field execution to align with requirements.
• Support TPE Organizational Learning / Incident Coordinator in conducting analysis of safety data leveraging applicable IT tools to identify trends and areas of improvement and provide actionable insights.
• Support the development and delivery of OE Process related training materials.
• Support efforts to prevent incidents with a focus on eliminating significant incidents and fatalities through providing guidance on implementation and delivery of the OE processes, standards and procedures.
• Manage / create OE data via Excel and PowerBI, improving data accuracy and streamlining reporting.
• Support TPE Organizational Learning / Incident Coordinator to deliver HSE metrics, scorecards, and benchmarking data to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with functional HSE and operational teams to deliver results.
• Ensure OE related data is populated in applicable digital systems.
• Influence beyond function with ability to communicate and facilitate at all levels, working collaboratively with technical peers and business personnel.
• Manage and prioritize activity to ensure that functional requirements and timelines are met in accordance with functional needs.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering, or related field.
• Comprehensive safety knowledge with ability to apply health & safety standards and regulations.
• Knowledge of oil & gas industry safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate data into business insights, learnings, and recommendations
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Advanced data analysis and visualization skills using and creating dashboards in Excel and PowerBI.
• Ability to follow workflows and understand system requirements for reporting.
• Understanding of OEMS and technical knowledge in personal and process safety, health, and environment.
• Experience in developing and communicating safety procedures and training materials.
• Ability to interpret laws and regulations and provide practical field implementation solutions.
• Experience in compliance and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
