QUALIFICATIONS: 

A high school diploma or GED is required with an understanding of mechanics and industrial 

machines. Must have a high degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude. Must pass the EEi POSS test and the Physical Abilities Test (PAT). An understanding of basic math and elementary chemistry is preferred. Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret P&ID's, one-line electrical diagrams and other key operational documents, All other general qualifications related to physical fitness, safety record, attendance and punctuality will be considered in evaluation. 

The applicant must be willing to devote time and study toward self-improvement in qualifying to operate all generation assets at Harding Street Station for this designation. 

PRIMARY DUTIES: 

Works on a rotating shift as an Outside Operator on roving assignment outside of a centralized control room; individually and by the direction of the Control Room Operator(s} in duties pertaining to the operation of one or more boiler-turbine units, gas turbines and their auxiliaries. 

Performs Duties Such As: 

  • Work as directed by Control Room Operators in placing the units in service and/or removing them from service, observing and inspecting the operation of the units and their auxiliaries. 
  • Operate all plant equipment according to guidelines to extend equipment life and maximize reliability. {SOP's, Manufacturers Recommendations, Standing Orders...) 
  • Operating all isolated equipment such as intake traveling screens, pumps, cooling towers, fans, heat exchangers, piping systems and valves. 
  • Troubleshoot system and equipment problems and enter a work request (SAP Notification} for repairs. 
  • Start turbine(s) and bring up to speed, help put the unit in service and/or remove it from 

service; observe, inspect and operate steam and gas turbine units and their auxiliaries. 

  • Operate isolated auxiliary equipment; blow down water columns, air receiver tanks, boiler headers and drums as directed by CRO. 
  • Change charts, take readings and keep operating logs and records according to local guidance and as directed. 
  • Clean, oil and grease equipment and maintain clean, safe work areas at all times. 
  • Perform activities with other operators, maintenance, technical, and laboratory personnel when needed for maximum safety and reliability. 
  • Perform call-outs to fill daily shift vacancies, for specialized technical and/or maintenance support utilizing the current EQOT and appropriate call-out sheet per workgroup as directed. Submit call-out sheet to work group team leader. 
  • Qualify and perform duties associated with Loci< Out Tag Out as directed. 
  • Maintain proficiency across all units and prepare to advance to the next job in the line of progression. 
  • Must know and comply with all company environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and response plans and must execute immediate and controlling actions for all events and report to proper plant management authorities. 
  • Perform other work as directed and as circumstances require. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Generally indoor work in clean, well-lighted, heated, and ventilated surroundings. Some work In plant atmosphere of heat, dirt, noise, and fumes, as well as outdoor work required in all types of weather.
