HRIS Team Lead

Amsterdam, Netherlands Full Time

We are looking for an experienced HRIS Team Lead to oversee our HR technology function with a strong emphasis on people leadership, technical excellence, and global team direction. This role combines deep HRIS and Workday expertise with inspiring leadership and clear decision-making.

You will lead a globally distributed HRIS team, set priorities, and ensure our HR systems are reliable, scalable, and well-managed. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how HR technology supports both business and employee experience, while building a high-performing team across regions.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys developing people, improving systems and processes, and providing direction in a complex and fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a globally distributed HRIS team, creating a strong sense of purpose and shared accountability
  • Build a cohesive team culture across regions through trust, inclusion, and consistent leadership
  • Coach team members through regular feedback, development conversations, and supportive challenge
  • Create an environment where people feel confident to share ideas, raise issues, and continuously improve

HRIS Strategy & Direction

  • Own the HRIS strategy, aligned to People and business priorities as per the HRIS Roadmap
  • Translate HR and business strategy into measurable HRIS outcomes
  • Provide strategic direction for architectural, AI, and automation initiatives led by the HRIS Architect
  • Balance strategic progress with operational stability

Prioritization & Delivery

  • Own the delivery of HRIS initiatives, partnering with the HRIS Project Manager — who manages intake, backlog, sprint planning, and roadmap maintenance — to ensure effective prioritisation and continuous improvement of the delivery process
  • Make informed trade-offs of priorities based on impact, risk, and capacity, applying best practice to balance local priorities with a global vision
  • Ensure delivery meets agreed timelines, quality standards, and business expectations

HR Technology Platform Accountability

  • Be accountable for the stability, scalability, and effectiveness of our HR technology ecosystem, including: Workday (Core HCM, Compensation, Time Tracking, Absence Management, Talent & Performance), Greenhouse (Recruiting/ATS), Glint (Engagement), Reflektive (Performance Management)
  • Work with the HRIS Architect and team to ensure strong governance across configuration, security, release management, and documentation
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex or high-impact HRIS issues
  • Balance consistent global standards with appropriate regional flexibility

Process Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement across HRIS processes, workflows, and operating models
  • Identify and implement opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency
  • Use data and performance metrics to monitor system health and identify improvement opportunities

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Proactively engage and build trusted relationships with key HR stakeholders, providing regular updates to HR through 1:1 calls, newsletters, and written updates
  • Build trusted relationships with IT Ops, People Analytics, and business stakeholders globally
  • Ensure systems deliver accurate, reliable data for reporting and decision-making
  • Communicate confidently, making HR technology accessible to non-technical audiences

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of progressive HRIS experience, including 5+ years with Workday
  • 3+ years leading technical teams, ideally in a global or multi-region context
  • Hands-on experience configuring Workday Core HCM, Compensation, Time Tracking, Absence Management, and Talent & Performance
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse preferred) and HR technology ecosystem management
  • Proven ability to manage multiple HR platforms and their integrations
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvement and simplifying workflows
  • Strong understanding of HR data, reporting, and data quality principles
  • Experience working in agile or sprint-based delivery environments
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear solutions
  • Confident, collaborative leadership style with a people-first approach
  • Willingness to travel to other IMC offices (Chicago, Sydney, Mumbai) and flexibility to join out-of-hours calls where required.

Preferred:

  • Workday certifications (HCM Pro, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent & Performance)
  • Experience with Greenhouse, Glint, Reflektive, or similar platforms
  • Experience with HRIS integrations and APIs across multiple systems
  • Background in tech industries
  • Exposure to AI/automation in HR systems
