Title: HR Manager

Location: Belgrade, Serbia

Job summary:

As the HR Manager, you will play a pivotal role in partnering with business and functional leaders, as well as colleagues within the HR organisation. You will serve as both an employee advocate and a change agent, providing counsel and guidance to employees and managers on a wide range of HR matters. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a positive and productive workplace culture. This role requires strong understanding of Serbian labor law legislation and employment practices and is responsible for managing all aspects of employee relations, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant handling of workplace matters. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of Serbian employment practices and HR policies. The HR Manager will report directly to the Executive HR Director.

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Draft and prepare formal documentation such as disciplinary warnings, performance improvement plans, and termination letters.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints, conflicts, or policy violations, ensuring confidentiality and compliance at all times.
  • Partner with managers and provide guidance on handling employee relations cases.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation and analytics related to ER cases.
  • Support compliance with local labor laws and internal policies.
  • Provide training and coaching to leaders on effective employee management and conflict resolution.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and practices.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Significant hands-on experience in employee relations is essential for this role, ideally within HR management or business partnering capacity.
  • Strong understanding of Serbian Labour Law, regulations and compliance requirements as well as HR best practices
  • Proven experience in managing employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, investigations, and terminations.
  • Ability to design and implement fair and legally compliant HR policies
  • Be able to anticipate and mitigate potential legal or reputational risks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations calmly and objectively.
  • Proven ability to build strong, credible relationships with senior leaders, whilst influencing decisions and driving initiatives that align with their business objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and evaluate / handle complex situations to conclusion • Excellent writing and documentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.

Preferred (but not mandatory):

  • Legal background or formal education in law is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing Union Relationships
  • Experience in a multinational or matrix organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR systems and reporting tools.
