Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated HR Generalist to work on our Honolulu Rail Project.  As the successful candidate your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome.  The position is based in Pearl City, HI.

Accountabilities:

  • Supports HR management with recruitment plans and strategies; uses standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce, fostering a positive attitude toward Company goals and mission. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Determines appropriate sourcing methods, including active and passive recruitment, necessary to attract and hire top talent throughout the company.

  • Pre-employment activities and activities associated with new hires.

  • Develops and coordinates position terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers.

  • Coordinates onboarding for new hires, contractors, temporary hires, and other resources in conjunction with hiring managers.

  • Assists with the development and administration of human resources programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.

  • Works directly with department leaders to assist them in their human resources responsibilities and matters.

  • Assists managers and employees with interpreting and complying with policies and applicable employment law and government regulations.

  • Maintains human resource information system records. Generates standard and ad-hoc reports as needed from the database. Ensures that HRIS system is being used up to its maximum functionality.

  • Supports with data analysis and reporting as it relates to trends, measurement and stats of employee data.

  • May assist with Employee Relations counseling and resolution in conjunction and with the guidance and approval of HR management.

  • Participates and assists in the completion of surveys that apply to human resources.

  • Keeps abreast of trends, processes and developments in this industry. Analyzes existing policies and prevailing practices among similar local organizations to establish competitive programs. Assists in monitoring rules, regulations, and state and federal laws to ensure compliance within the assigned area of responsibility.

  • Complies with all safety rules and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts.

  • Complies with all applicable Company policies and procedures.

  • Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner.

Required skills/experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in recruitment and employee relations.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including recruitment, compensation practices, organization performance, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

  • SRHM-CP or SHRM-SCP or PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.

  • ATS experience preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience

Language:
English Proficiency

The salary range for this position is $74,000 to $111,000.

Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
