HR Data & Automation Analyst (Entry Level) — People Operations & Employee Experience

Summary

This role supports a modern, people‑focused HR function by building automated workflows, dashboards, and reporting systems that connect multiple HR data sources. The analyst uses Smartsheet, Workday, and other HR technologies to streamline people processes, improve data accuracy, and surface insights that strengthen retention, compliance, and employee experience. Working closely with the People Experience Team, this role enhances HR service delivery through automation, documentation, and proactive problem‑solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and automate Smartsheet workflows, dashboards, and data pipelines that support HR operations and employee‑lifecycle processes.
  • Integrate HR data sources (Workday, ER trackers, LOA systems, surveys, spreadsheets) into unified, accurate reporting.
  • Extract, transform, and analyze Workday data to support reporting, reconciliation, and cross‑system integration.
  • Support People Experience Team initiatives by developing automated reporting for headcount, retention/attrition, onboarding, compliance, employee movement, and workforce health.
  • Maintain data quality through audits, validation rules, and automated error checks.
  • Improve documentation and file management through structured, automated systems for storing and updating HR documents.
  • Partner with People Partners, PXPs, ER, Learning, and Compliance to translate HR needs into scalable tools and insights.
  • Design and implement automated solutions that enhance the employee experience and reduce manual HR administrative work.
  • Support HR leadership with ad hoc analysis, data pulls, and operational insights.
  • Leverage HR platforms and technology to improve HR service delivery and employee experience.
  • Identify operational issues or opportunities and design sustainable, innovative solutions.
  • Surface trends related to performance, productivity, engagement, or employee experience to inform HR decision‑making.
  • Support high‑volume transitions or redeployment by ensuring accurate data and smooth workflow execution.
  • Participate in just‑in‑time HR projects that impact employee experience or operational stability.
  • Build strong, credible relationships across HR teams and model HR values in all interactions.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Smartsheet automation, formulas, dashboards, and data mesh.
  • Ability to connect, reconcile, and maintain data across HR systems, especially Workday.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a people‑centric lens.
  • Experience with reporting tools (Smartsheet dashboards, Excel, Google Sheets, or BI tools).
  • Understanding of HR processes across the employee lifecycle (onboarding, data management, movement, compliance, retention).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and comfort navigating ambiguity.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of HR experience supporting employee‑facing processes or HR operations.
  • Experience with HRIS systems such as Workday.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data connectors, or integration tools.
  • Exposure to automation platforms (Zapier, Power Automate, Workato).
  • Experience with HR shared services, case management, or employee request systems.
  • Business acumen and ability to influence HR partners using data‑driven insights.
  • Resilience, balanced perspective, and ability to maintain humor in a dynamic environment.

Estimated compensation for this position:

70,000.00 – 75,250.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
