As the HR Data and Analytics Specialist, you’ll shape the future of our workforce by turning human capital data into powerful insights—leading advanced people analytics, influencing strategic decisions, and building the tools and capability that drive smarter outcomes across the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Drive human capital insights and strategy: Analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative HR data to generate actionable insights, identify workforce trends and risks, and advise stakeholders, including senior leaders and HR professionals, through clear data storytelling and strategic reporting.

  • Apply a broader lens to workforce analytics: Combine internal people data with external labour market insights to inform strategy, identify emerging trends, and support workforce planning.

  • Lead people analytics strategy and initiatives: Contribute to the development and execution of the organization’s people analytics strategy, advocating for continuous improvement, enhanced communication, automation, and data-driven decision-making across HR.

  • Develop and maintain advanced reporting and analytics solutions: Design, implement, and maintain dashboards, reporting frameworks, and analytics tools—including Workday and Power BI—ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and usability while supporting regulatory, compliance, and executive reporting requirements.

  • Advance analytics capabilities and innovation: Lead the evolution from traditional reporting to predictive and advanced analytics by establishing standards, governance, best practices, and automation to improve efficiency and insight generation.

  • Collaborate across functions: Partner with Finance, Risk, and other business teams to align human capital analytics with financial reporting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.

  • Coach, mentor, and build organizational capability: Develop HR specialists and stakeholders through training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of curiosity, analytical capability, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Support HR program and enterprise initiatives: Provide expert consultation to ensure appropriate data, measurement, and analytics approaches are embedded in program and project design, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Manage Workday lifecycle and system integrations: Participate in planning and execution of Workday releases, assess reporting impacts, coordinate user acceptance testing, and maintain inbound/outbound system integrations to ensure data accuracy and usability.

Education Required: 

  • Degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in analytics or insights roles, with a minimum of 2–3 years focused on people analytics in complex organizational environments.

  • Skilled in data analysis, statistics, visualization, storytelling, and translating insights into actionable recommendations.

  • Experience leading analytics/reporting initiatives end-to-end: requirements, design, delivery, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, data modeling, and analysis.

  • Proficient in developing and maintaining dashboards and reports in Power BI, with strong visualization skills.

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint for reporting, documentation, and collaboration.

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data sets and present findings clearly to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

  • Strong data storytelling skills, turning quantitative and qualitative analysis into clear, actionable narratives.

  • Strong understanding of HR programs and processes, including payroll, benefits, pensions, compensation, workforce planning, and labour relations.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate to support automation and process improvement (asset).

  • Knowledge of integrating human capital data with financial and operational data to support enterprise decisions (asset).

  • Experience with Workday—such as Advanced Report Writer, BIRT, business process frameworks, and functional configuration (asset).

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Salary: Analyst, Level C (Current CUPE rates)

$99,626.44 - $105,855.57 - $112,084.70 - $118,313.83 - $124,542.96

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will have the opportunity to work from home on Mondays and Fridays and will be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
