Human Resources

As a close-knit Human Resources Team, where collaboration is valued, we deliver key outcomes across the employment lifecycle, including talent attraction and retention, policy and procedure management, learning and development, reward and recognition, employee relations, health, safety and wellbeing, engagement surveys and leadership development.

About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director, People & Culture, the HR Business Partner is an integral member of the HR Team. The role is accountable for providing expert and professional HR advice and support within RMIT University Pathways (RMIT UP). This includes working in partnership with managers and employees at all levels of the organisation to deliver best practice people management solutions to support the achievement of business objectives.

Duties and responsibilities also include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Providing support, coaching and advice to managers and employees throughout the annual performance lifecycle, including goal setting, individual development plans, and end-of-year performance reviews
  • Coaching managers through all aspects of performance management to drive employee growth and organisational success
  • Partnering with managers to lead organisational change initiatives, ensuring employment relations compliance while proactively identifying and mitigating organisational risk
  • Playing a key supporting role in all stages of enterprise bargaining for RMIT UP – including preparation, negotiation and lodging of enterprise agreements
  • Collaborate with leaders and employees to create a great employee experience and impact career journeys


About You

To be successful in this position you will have:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualification
  • Experience as a trusted advisor with success in HR Business Partnering supported by knowledge and experience in performance management, employee relations, industrial relations, staff engagement, workforce planning, culture and change management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills combined with outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, including sensitivity in dealing with employees and people leaders, effective stakeholder engagement, and strong negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills
  • Sound business knowledge and strong commercial acumen
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplinary tasks and achieve deadlines (at times in a complex and pressured environment), while maintaining a high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in all matters
  • Professional, mature, and decisive in approach – models constructive leadership behaviours
  • Self-directed – able to set high standards and achieve results whilst working autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and best practice principles

Desirable:

  • Experience with enterprise bargaining and providing interpretation support on industrial instruments such as Enterprise Agreements
  • Knowledge and experience using a HRIS (ideally Workday)
  • Experience in education sector, mainly tertiary/post-secondary education
  • Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI)
