Household Hazardous Waste Laborer

Ukiah Waste Solutions, Inc., a Waste Connections company, has an immediate opening for a Household Hazardous Waste Laborer to join their team in Ukiah, CA at their Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

The schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:00AM – 3:30PM with alternating Saturdays for HHW mobile collection events.

Starting pay is $22.00 per hour. The pay range for this job category is $22-$23 per hour, depending on experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifying waste for segregation, packaging and bulking.

  • Assisting in transportation of waste per Federal, State, and local laws and regulations. 

  • Performing site set up, clean up, facility maintenance, inventory, routine inspection, and bulking, unloading, and lab packing hazardous waste.

  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles, such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.

  • Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, sometimes with no helpers.

  • Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Extensive physical activity. It requires strenuous physical work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 75 pounds.

  • The work environment involves some exposure to physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts, which require following basic safety precautions.

  • The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • General Laborer, Housekeeping, and Facility maintenance

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and with minimal supervision

  • Organization skills and record keeping

  • Ability to work with and around Latex products

  • Communication skills as you will be working with the general public

  • Ability to work and stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Forklift Training and certification (will be provided)

  • 40 Hour Hazwoper training

  • EPA Section 608 Certification For freon recovery
