Riverside Medical Group is currently seeking a Labor Pool Hospitalist physician to join our team at Riverside Smithfield Hospital in Smithfield, Virginia.

In this role you will be: Specializing in internal medicine and being certified in hospital medicine. You will confine your practice within a hospital setting and specialize in medical issues that are relevant to your field of study. The hospitalist group is responsible for taking over the in-hospital care for our patients. You will consult health records and diagnosis taken by the patient’s primary care physician. You will serve as the sole provider during the patient’s hospital stay while coordinating their care.

🩺 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
  • Coordinate with specialists, nurses, and support staff for integrated care
  • Monitor patient progress, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and adjust treatment plans
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
  • Facilitate safe and effective discharge planning and transitions of care

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience in hospital settings and familiarity with inpatient protocols

Education

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Certification(s) and License(s)

Licensed Medical Doctor – State of Virginia

Board Certified or Board Eligible

Current DEA

Qualifications:

Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care

Ability to document appropriately and communicate with appropriate parties in a timely manner

Ability to complete charts in a timely manner

Experienced in diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions

Basic working knowledge of managed care and Medicare population

Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor

Excellent communication skills

Professional appearance
