About the role
Perform accurate and timely haematology laboratory testing, including processing complex or unusual specimens, interpreting results, and examining difficult blood films.
Support team capability by assisting with morphology training, continuing education, competency assessments, and supervising less experienced staff when required.
Maintain laboratory quality and performance, including monitoring QC, ensuring KPIs are met, maintaining equipment and supplies, and supporting the laboratory Quality System.
Communicate critical and urgent results promptly to clinicians while collaborating closely with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
Contribute to a safe and efficient laboratory environment by rotating through haematology and haemostasis sections, adhering to WHS practices, participating in scientific meetings, and undertaking rostered duties as required.
About you
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) with relevant studies in haematology and immunology from a recognised tertiary institution.
Recent hands-on experience in automated haematology and haematology morphology, with strong technical knowledge of laboratory processes.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and the ability to use technology effectively within a diagnostic laboratory environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clinicians.
Self-motivated and organised, able to work independently as well as part of a team, with a clear commitment to ongoing professional development.
