The Marketing Planning team partners with our business units, channels and marketing specialists to design world-class marketing strategies and campaigns that drive shareholder value and customer loyalty. We are customer-led growth engineers that integrate the art of creative marketing with the science of analytics marketing to enrich our customers’ lives by exceeding their needs and expectations.

Our team acts as leaders on all aspects of marketing, influencing the business strategy, while ensuring the TD brand is protected and delivered in the customer experience.

The Horizontal Marketing Strategies Intern role is part of the Marketing Planning Team within Marketing and will report into the Manager of Horizontal Strategies and Behavioural Insights Lead.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Supporting the Business Banking and Horizontal Marketing Team, this 4-month summer term will provide you exposure to various products and groups across TD Marketing, including: Marketing Planning, Enterprise Customer Data and Analytics, Global Brand and Sponsorships, Customer Experience & Insights and Marketing Communications.

This person will support the marketing planning team focusing on Horizontal Marketing Strategies which includes Digital Leadership Marketing, Customer Communications, and Behavioural Insights. 

The intern will be exposed to cross-functional specialists that will facilitate learning by providing mentorship and guidance. They will learn about TD's products, services, and offerings as it relates to Digital Capabilities, Customer Communications, and Consumer Behaviour and how marketing drives business results.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision; establish priorities, and use your strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to add value to each project you are assigned.

  • Define opportunities for continued enhancements to business processes and make recommendations within assigned area of responsibility

  • Gathering competitive materials (both in and outside of the financial services category) and providing assessment on intent and impact to TD. Highlighting business strengths and weaknesses and category threats and opportunities.

  • Contribute to developing innovative ways to communicate with customers outside of traditional channels

  • Conduct literature reviews and harvest competitive insights to inform test-and-learn experimentation that supports business objectives

  • Synthesize consumer insights to provide recommendations to business partners

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution with an undergraduate degree or diploma in Business/Commerce, Marketing, Economics, Communications, Psychology, or related field; with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term

  • Demonstrated leadership through volunteer activities, community involvement, work, or related experience

  • Problem solving skills and proven analytical capabilities

  • Excellent verbal communication and written communication skills

  • Quantitative ability to draw insights from data

  • English and French Bilingual is an asset

  • Proven strength managing relationships

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Curious mindset and eagerness to learn, specifically within the marketing space

  • Resourceful with a "can do" personality. Comfortable reaching out to internal partners and building a network of contacts willing to help advance the team's objectives.

  • This position is a 4-month work term and will commence May 4th – August 21st, 2026.
