Job Description:

The Role:
MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Histotechnologist to join our team of professionals.  We are a CAP accredited, 24/7 lab that is responsible for over 1.3 million tests annually for the central Maine Community.

The Opportunity:
Heroes work here! MaineGeneral Health is offering an exciting opportunity to work in our state of the art laboratory as a Histotechnologist. This role will be great for someone that has a passion for Science and enjoys being part of a team that is dedicated to providing great care to our patients. 

This position is Monday-Friday, standard business hours. 

The Work:
•    Prepares and processes tissue specimens: logs, embeds, cuts, mounts, stains and coverslips tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a Pathologist.
•    Assists Pathologists with gross specimen examination and frozen sections.
•    Performs routine, special and immunohistochemical stains.
•    Operates, cleans and maintains equipment.
•    Store/maintain/dispose of tissues, slides, paraffin blocks and chemicals.
•    Maintains departmental logs, quality control, records and procedures.
•    Complies with regulations, established safety policies and procedures.
•    Assists the cytology department with the processing of GYN specimens.
•    Performs additional duties as necessary.

 
You Have:
•    Histology experience strongly preferred
•    Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) preferred at hire, required within two years of hire
