The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Dermatopathology Histology Technician II who will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day-to-day operations of the Dermatopathology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. In addition, he/she will provide technical expertise to ensure proper functioning of the laboratory division for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity, and turnaround times.
Specific Job-Related Duties:
Performs highly specialized diagnostic histology, including grossing, routine processing, embedding, sectioning and staining tissue specimens, for microscopic examination by the Dermatopathologist.
Prepares solutions, performs special stain techniques, and provides leadership in development of new and modified lab techniques.
Performs specialized procedures such as frozen sections, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. Determines proper fixative solutions in which tissues are maintained.
Serves as the resource for coordination of research projects, test validation, and clinical test implementation activities in the department.
Responsible for Quality Metrics to improve the value of patient care.
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.
The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. Hourly range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $38.69 - $49.98.
